You did not yet receive other startup funding/grant. (This means, they can not support you, if you received eg. Berlin Startup Grant or Exist before.) Prioritization of teams with at least two co-founders, strong solo founders also accepted.

How to get involved?

The application process involves completing an online application form where you are asked about your idea, impact, business model and team. Selected applicants will be invited for a first interview round. From these, selected applicants are invited to the next interview round. In each interview you are asked to present your idea with a pitch deck in max. 3 to 5 min, followed by questions. Next cohort: 1.9.2024. Application deadlines end 1.5 months before a cohort start. Accelerator program runs for 6 months and is expendable to up to 12 months.

Early-stage hardware startups with innovative products or technologies that require advanced prototyping and development support. Ideal candidates are teams looking to accelerate their product development and scale their businesses. Requirements: All applicants are expected to live in Berlin for the duration of the program and register their residence in Berlin. Your startup must be in the early stage / pre-seed phase. Applicants should not yet have received any public funding in the area of business start-ups. Recipients of the Berlin Startup Stipendium, EXIST and GründungsBonus are not eligible for participation. Your company is either not incorporated prior to the application date for the Hardtech Innovation Accelerator Program, or, if already incorporated, you have not initiated any economic activity involving the offering of goods or services in a specific market. In addition your company must relocate their registered office to Berlin in order to participate in the program. A company may only be founded during the program with its registered office in Berlin. If already established: Participants must have majority control and voting rights in their startup. You should have unrestricted ownership of the intellectual property of your startup (unrestricted rights to exploit the concept or idea). Applicants should be willing to work full-time on and in your startup for seven months. Applicants should not yet have successfully founded a startup. Previous freelance start-ups / companies for “odd jobs” are allowed: The freelance work only included subject-specific, specialized activities within the usual framework without the skills to run a company. Applicants should not have held any management positions. No other permanent employment relationships (full-time, part-time) are permitted for the duration of the program; mini-jobs and self-employed secondary employment on a small scale are permitted. Participants may not be enrolled in a degree program for the duration of the program, unless they are about to complete their studies. This means that no examinations other than the final thesis (e.g. Bachelor’s thesis) may be outstanding.
